The Town of Beech Mountain has lifted a boil water advisory and reduced water use restrictions that were put into effect last week.

The town is now at “level 3 water restrictions”, which means showers, dishwashing, and general water use are now permitted. However, town officials say residents should still use about 20% less water than they usually do.

According to Town Manager Tim Holloman, a water quality test Sunday revealed the town’s water is safe to consume.

Beech Mountain issued water restrictions after a reservoir was drained to rescue a diver who became trapped underwater while performing maintenance work.
