Phoenix, N.Y. — A boil water order remains in effect in the Village of Phoenix, as a precaution.
On Thursday, town officials said the second round of sampling tested positive for coli-form bacteria.
This after the Village says a water main break on Lock Street near County Route 12 caused an increased risk of untreated water and harmful microbes entering the water supply.
The village is currently running hydrants to bring in fresh water.
On Friday, sampling will resume again.
Officials say they have to get two clean water samples before the advisory can be lifted.
Neighbors will be informed when the tests results show that the water is safe.
The Red Cross has set up a shelter at the Palermo United Methodist Church in Fulton for anyone impacted by the water outage.
