The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported one flu-related death last week. This death brings the season's total to five so far, according to the department.
The department reports one person died of a flu-associated death between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1. The season began on Sept. 30 and lasts through May 18, 2019.
Flu symptoms can include:
- A 100°F or higher fever or feeling feverish (not everyone with the flu has a fever)
- A cough and/or sore throat
- A runny or stuffy nose
- Headaches and/or body aches
- Chills
- Fatigue
- Nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea (most common in children)
