Raccoon tests positive for rabies in North Hall County

This is the seventh confirmed case of rabies in Hall County this year.

A raccoon that bit a dog in Murrayville tested positive for rabies, according to a news release from Hall County government. This is the seventh confirmed case of rabies in Hall County this year.

The raccoon was shipped to a Georgia Public Health lab in Decatur for testing.

The raccoon and dog were found in the 5800 block of Bark Camp Road. Officials plan to post positive alert signs in the area indicating the rabid raccoon was there.

Anyone who sees an animal acting abnormally in that area should contact Hall County Animal Services.

Pet owners should vaccinate for rabies, health officials said.

In Hall County, rabies vaccines are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter in Gainesville for $10 during office hours Tuesday – Sunday.
