5 districts pulled up for not reporting dengue cases regularly

JAIPUR: At a time when dengue has become a menace in the state, health department has pulled up five districts for reporting dengue cases irregularly. In a meeting held at health directorate, additional chief secretary (health) Veenu Gupta issued directions to Karauli, Hanumangarah, Dholpur, Bharatpur and Sawai Madhopur to send details of dengue cases regularly.
Rajasthan is at third place in the country in reporting highest number of dengue cases this year. Also, this year, state has reported highest number of dengue cases in past 21 years.
With people testing positive for dengue in December, health department has launched a separate campaign for preventing spread of the vector-borne diseases. “We have launched a three-day campaign Swasthya Karyakarta Aapke Dwar from today (Monday) for preventing spread of dengue in the state,” said Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur, additional director (rural health) health department.
Under the campaign, the health workers will visit door-to-door to find out larvae breeding sites in houses and residential buildings. For the purpose, the health department has roped in nursing students in each district.
The health department issued a report on Monday showing that Jaipur reported 164 cases of dengue in first 15 days of December. Jodhpur, Kota, Alwar and Sriganganagar have reported 36, 26, 12 and seven cases of dengue in the same period. The health department has categorised Kota, Alwar, Pali, Rajsamand, Sriganaganagar and Pratapgarh with high vector indices in November. Besides, the health department has also issued directions to its official to remain alert on swine flu. From December 1 to December 16, Jaipur reported 20 swine flu cases, followed by Jodhpur (18), Udaipur (10) and Kota (10).
