Police are investigating two incidents of a man dressed as Santa attempting to lure children into his car near two schools.
The first incident happened at Spring Hill Elementary School around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after three students reported a man wearing a Santa suit had attempted to lure them into the white car he was driving.
"There goes [the children's] trust, their security," said Joyce Shaner. "I mean they...kids shouldn't have to deal with that!"
Shaner is a parent of two who has one child attending Spring Hill Elementary. She said a letter was sent to parents of school children there. You can read its entirety in the tweet below.
The vehicle the lurking Santa was driving was described to police as a four-door white Hyundai Sonata. The driver was described as white and in his 40s with a medium build and a beard.
"I think the gentleman who was the security guard is out on leave," said Alexis Demchenko, another parent. "He was injured in some way. So I think having a security guard present would be helpful."
Pittsburgh's Action News 4 saw a police car outside the school Wednesday morning.
Police were called to a second incident in the 1400 block of Troy Hill Road around 3:26 p.m. where a man dressed as Santa allegedly attempted to lure a child into a white van.
The Provident Charter School is located on the 1400 block of Troy Hill Road.
It is unclear if the incidents are related.
