The site of an old plating shop in Jackson has tested positive for PFAS.

The Michner Plating Factory on Mechanic Street has been vacant since 2007. It sits right next to the Grand River.

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality took six groundwater samples at the site in August. All six came back positive for PFAS contamination.

The state plans on testing the Grand River next.

PFAS is linked to several health concerns, including cancer and thyroid issues.
