Hisar, December 29
Taking serious cognisance of recent swine flu fatalities, Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala has sought a detailed report on its spread in three days.
With 43 patients having tested positive for the disease in the district in about a month, besides six deaths in Hisar and one in Bhiwani, the health authorities in the two districts are on their toes.
In a letter, Dushyant asked the health authorities whether they were equipped to provide adequate treatment to patients of the swine flu. Demanding a detailed report on causes of death, the MP said he was ready to provide a budget from his Member of Parliament Local Area Development fund for purchase of medicines and treatment of patients.
The health authorities in Hisar and Bhiwani had set up isolation wards in the civil hospital, but patients were not reaching civil hospitals and had been preferring treatment in private hospitals.
Greet with folded hands to avoid infection: Vij
Ambala: After cases of deaths due to swine flu came to light in Haryana, state Health Minister Anil Vij on Saturday asked people to greet each other with folded hands to prevent the spread of the virus. Speaking to mediapersons, Vij said, “Cases of swine flu are coming to light in the districts sharing border with Rajasthan. Of these, 29 have tested positive and nearly 70 cases are suspected to be of swine flu. Its virus gets active during cold weather. We appeal to people not to shake hands as it spreads from person to person, and greet each other with folded hands.”
