Webinar Summary: Combining CBD with Chinese Herbs to Improve Patient Outcomes

Featuring Bart Beckermann, L.Ac.  & Chloe Weber, L.Ac. of Radical Roots Herbs

On December 13th we hosted a free Webinar.

Attendees learned about combining CBD and Chinese Herbs together to improve patient outcomes.

Webinar attendees gained knowledge in the following areas:

  • Hemp medicine from the perspective of Chinese Medical theory.
  • The different properties of hemp, including cannabinoids CBD, CBC, CBG, CBDV, CBN and THC, different terpenes, and how the different processing methods affect the phytochemicals, thermal nature and actions of the hemp
  • Chinese Herbs as guiding factors and how to combine Chinese Herbs with Hemp Medicine
  • Why we chose spagyric extraction and how the minerals potentiate the actions of the hemp creating a truly “whole plant” extract.
  • Farming techniques that lead to optimal plant growth. How no-till hemp farming helps potentiate the mineral and microbial properties of the soil without use of dangerous pesticides, herbicides or even fertilizers.
  • The Radical Roots line and what we use each formula for and why.

ABOUT BART BECKERMANN

After many years of seeking and exploring different paths to healing, Bart was introduced to Chinese Medicine while attending the University of Spiritual Healing and Sufism in northern California. Within moments of the first few needles he received, he felt the effective power and healing potential of acupuncture. After feeling the calling of this medicine himself, within a few months, he enrolled in the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture, where he studied Five Element Acupuncture and Medical Qigong, then graduating with a Master’s degree in Acupuncture in 2012. Having struggled with a lifetime of insomnia, anxiety and depression, and knowing how debilitating it can be, Bart quickly realized his passion for helping people who have been suffering from these illnesses and many more. Then, after being prescribed herbs that literally changed his life, Bart felt the pull to learn Chinese Herbalism and began studying Chinese Herbology at the Maryland Institute of Integrative Health, where he graduated with a Certificate of Chinese Herbology in 2014. Since then, Bart has had a private practice in NYC, treating people suffering from insomnia, anxiety, depression, chronic or acute pain, and autoimmune disease.

Shortly after learning about CBD being used to treat non-intractable seizures in children, parkinson’s, various inflammatory diseases, chronic pain, and insomnia, Bart began using it himself and in his practice with fantastic results. Quickly realizing that no one was approaching Hemp Medicine from the perspective of an herbalist, nor combining CBD with Chinese Herbs, he knew that it must be done. The very next day at work, Bart approached Chloe with the idea of making medicinal formulas with Chinese Herbs and CBD, only to find out that she had been thinking the exact same thing. Thus began Radical Roots!

ABOUT CHLOE WEBER

Chloe developed an interest in public health and medicine after being diagnosed with Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in high school. As one of the first cases diagnosed in Costa Rica, Chloe was drawn to study Ecology and Evolutionary biology at CU Boulder where she began to understand how diseases evolve along with us and the deep connection between humans and our environment. Eventually Chloe was drawn to Chinese medicine as a way to address public health issues. She graduated with a Masters of Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder and spent time studying at Heilongjiang University Hospital in Harbin, China.

After graduating, Chloe co-founded a non-profit sliding-scale walk-in Chinese herb clinic called Urban Herbs. Running her clinic Chloe was able to dive into her study of herbs and found great joy in community outreach. When Chloe’s son, Remy, was starting the journey towards diagnosis she decided to move home to New York to focus on supporting him. Chloe currently has a private practice in NYC seeing patients in Manhattan and Bellmore. Working with Remy has led Chloe to extensively study integrative neurology and functional medicine and has motivated her to find ways to help children with neuro-developmental issues and seizures. While Remy and Chloe both felt better with the many CBD oils that they tried, nothing stopped Remy’s seizures. Chloe felt she could create a stronger formula to help those with seizures, joined forces with Bart, and Radical Roots was born!
