SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — All but five counties in California are reporting elevated flu activity.
Six deaths were reported last week. The total number of cases since September 30th is now 42.
Half of those deaths were patients under the age of 65, due in part to this year’s strain of H1N1, also known as the “Swine Flu”. If you were born before 1970, you were likely exposed to an earlier version and have some immunity.
No matter your age, officials say the best protection is vaccination, and it’s not too late to get one.
According to the Center for Disease Control, flu season runs from October through May. With months of flu season still to go, it’s not too late to get vaccinated.
