The National Institute of Hygiene (PZH) recorded 339 infections last year. In 2017, 63 such cases were reported.
Most of the people who suffered from the disease, 280 in total, came down with the illness in November and December.
Bodnar told the IAR news agency that new cases have already been reported since the beginning of the year.
