Swine flu alert in Rajasthan: 1 dead, 44 test positive

In the last twelve months, more than 200 people have died in Rajasthan due to swine flu. Two doctors of Sawai man Singh Hospital have also been tested positive.

Swine flu alert in Rajasthan: 1 dead, 44 test positive

The swine flu menace has followed Rajasthan into the new year, haunting the desert state. So far this year, one death has been reported along with 44 positive cases of the disease.

In the last twelve months, more than 200 people have died in Rajasthan due to swine flu. Two doctors of Sawai man Singh Hospital have also been tested positive. The Government is aware of the gravity of the situation and the chief minister has taken a high level meet regarding the pressing issue.

"Rajasthan government and the health department are fully alert. The chief minister has taken a high level meet in the CMO. We have sent a high level team of doctors to places where thedisease is more widespread. We have received the report as well. We also took the complete briefing of this department for around two and a half hours," Raghu Sharma, Rajasthan's health minister said to India Today.

The state government has issued a high alert. The leaves of doctors and para-medical staff in the state have been cancelled. The state government also claimed that it has made full arrangements for the medicines required to cure patients of swine flu.

"We are fully vigilant, our control room is functioning. We want to appeal to the common people that there is no need to be scared of this disease. There is cure for this, treatment is possible. It is not an incurable disease. But if you do not take advice, it will show negligence and make the situation worse. If you will come on time, treatment is possible," Sharma said.
