OSHKOSH – Schools are experiencing increased absences due to illness with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and fever, which district leaders say could be norovirus, also known as the stomach flu.

The Oshkosh Area School District is asking families not to send their children to school until 48 hours after the symptoms have passed. Even if children have a minor upset stomach, parents should keep them home in case they contracted the virus.

When parents call children in absent, the district asks that parents list symptoms so the school can report it to the Winnebago County Health Department.
