Two people were on Thursday confirmed dead and 17 others quarantined at the Narok County Referral Hospital following a suspected Cholera outbreak.

The disease is suspected to have originated from Ngasuria and Ole Nguluo villages in Narok South on Monday with members of one family greatly affected.

According to Narok County Health CEC Vivian Sereti Mpetu, four blood samples have been taken to the National Government Chemist for analysis to ascertain if the disease is indeed Cholera.

The CEC also noted that Public Health officers have been deployed in the region to cleanse and ensure that the disease is prevented from spreading further.

Ms. Mpetu further stated that the condition of nine of the patients has improved after doctors conducted rapid tests and gave them medication to stop vomiting and diarrhea.

Members of the public have since been urged to be careful while handling food stuff and drinks to avoid spread of the disease.
