Clarendon records 16 dengue cases so far this month

Clarendon is now in dengue-outbreak mode, according to the medical officer for the Clarendon Health Department, Dr Kimberly Scarlett Campbell. Ten days into the month, the parish has recorded 16 suspected cases of dengue so far.

Last month saw 18 suspected case of dengue, with three confirmed.

Of the confirmed three, one male farmer from James Hill in the parish died of haemorrhagic fever.

Campbell, who was giving her report at the monthly sitting of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation, said that the other two confirmed cases came from Mineral Heights and Portland Cottage.

"We are now in our outbreak mode, and our programme objectives are to achieve 100 per cent coverage in relation to vector control," said Campbell, pointing out that previously, they were at 62 per cent intervention in the parish.
