Angola: Malaria causes more than 7,000 deaths in Angola in 2018

Luanda, Angola- Angola recorded 7,356 malaria deaths in 2018, a drop to almost half compared to the previous year, but the disease continues to be the leading cause of death in the country, preliminary data from the Ministry of Health indicate.

According to a report by the Angolan Ministry of Health, which the Lusa agency had access to today, the Lusophone country registered a total of 3,007,111 cases of malaria in 2018.

However, this statistic shows a significant reduction in total deaths, compared to 2017, when the country recorded 13,967 deaths out of a total of 4,500,221 cases.

Malaria is the main cause of death due to diseases in Angola, as well as hospital admissions and absences from school or work.
