A Central Texas school district is closing its doors for the rest of this week.

Westphalia ISD Superintendent Robert Hudson sent out a statement to the district’s parents, guardians and staff on Wednesday.

Due to the large percentage of students that have flu or strep throat in our district, The statement said the district is going to close for Thursday and Friday due to the large percentage of students with the flu or strep throat.

The basketball game for Thursday night vs. CTCS has also been cancelled.

The additional student holiday this Monday will allow five days for the illness to hopefully decrease.

Extensive cleaning of all facilities and buses will be done during the break to help stem the virus.

Hudson said they will not have to make up the days due to extra minutes built into the district’s schedule.
