The tsetse fly kills more than 3 million livestock in sub-Saharan Africa every year. The bloodsucking insects transmit parasites that cause sleeping sickness, which can be fatal in humans if left untreated. Scientists in Senegal are trying to wipe out the harmful flies by releasing sterile males into the environment. And, as Emmanuelle Landais reports, they're having considerable success.
