Delhi has reported 512 cases of seasonal influenza (H1N1) so far this year, the State’s Health Department stated in a release on Wednesday.

People with co-morbid conditions such as low immunity, blood cancer, diabetes and heart disease; and those who have undergone renal transplant or are on immunosuppressants, are at high risk of contracting the infection.

The Department noted that Oseltamivir, a drug recommended by the Centre for treatment and prevention, is available in all government hospitals and personal protective equipment such as N95 masks are also available.

“All hospitals have been directed to make local purchase of logistics required to ensure continuous supply of medicines, vaccines and kits. Testing of seasonal influenza A(H1N1) is required in category-C patients [admitted and critically ill-patients] only,” the department noted.

For any query/information, people can contact round-the-clock helpline: 011-22300012, 22307145.
