Dumas Animal Control responded to a “drunk” skunk on Sunday, January 27 on the 1200 block of Bennett.

After animal control found the skunk, it charged the officer. After securing via a catchpole, the skunk twisted and bit the pole. After being placed in a trap, the skunk repeatedly rammed the door. Officials say the skunk never sprayed.

The skunk was later euthanized and sent for testing. That is when it was reported as positive for rabies Thursday.

According to the Dumas Police, there were no positive cases of rabies in Moore County in 2018.
