With the Health Department reporting two more swine flu positive cases in the district, the count has reached nine.
Dr Navdeep Kaur, nodal officer for swine flu control, said, “The situation is under control. The samples of all patients tested today are negative. The patients admitted to hospitals are recovering.”
The department has confirmed three deaths due to the disease in the current season. The district had reported a maximum of six deaths due to disease in 2016.
Dr Navdeep Kaur said the private hospitals too had been asked to report such cases immediately so that their samples could be taken. She said that with the Indian Medical Association also creating awareness among doctors, all suspected cases were been reported timely to start treatment at the earliest.
The Health Department has urged people to prefer government institutions for swine flu treatment.
