SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– “If I lose my job, I’ll be ok. But what about these people that aren’t going to be ok,” a man only identifying himself as John recently asked Ozarks First sister station WKRN in Nashville his job is in jeopardy he says, because of his use of CBD oil.

“I went and took a drug test for a work-related injury and on January first they gave me the results saying that I failed.”

John tested positive for marijuana, something many may be convinced can’t happen considering CBD doesn’t get you high.

“I knew it was a possibility I just never anticipated it happening.”

Natalie Christianson at CBD Hemp Dropz of Springfield says that’s a common misconception.

“Most people think you can’t. As we started doing more research, we saw there’s a one percent chance.”

While she says many oils have zero THC (the psychoactive drug in marijuana that gets you high) according to Christianson the trace amounts of THC found in what she calls full spectrum oils are still enough to show up on some drug tests.

“So now that THC is only going to be point three percent, undetectable typically untraceable, unless you’re using it consistently,” she says. “1000 milligram oils are really where the research starts showing that you have that one percent chance of popping up positive.”

That’s why she says she warns her customers of this risk and avoid more stories like John’s.
