Enjoy the sunshine before a blustery winter storm bringing more snow moves into many areas of our region.

Here is what Environment Canada forecasts will be coming our way.  

Winter storm watch in effect for:

  • North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
  • West Nipissing - French River
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity
  • Espanola - Killarney
  • Manitoulin Island
  • Bracebridge - Gravenhurst
  • Huntsville - Baysville
  • Port Carling - Port Severn
  • Town of Parry Sound - Rosseau - Killbear Park

Snowfall amounts of 25 to 35 centimetres and blowing snow Tuesday into Wednesday.

Snow will begin Tuesday morning. Strong easterly winds gusting up to 70 kilometres per hour will cause reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Total snowfall amounts of 25 to 35 cm are likely before the snow tapers off during the day Wednesday.

This snow is associated with a Colorado low that will cross Southern Ontario Tuesday and Wednesday.

Avoid travel if possible. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone.

Winter storm watches are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.

  • Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay
  • Kirkland Lake - Englehart
  • New Liskeard – Temagami
  • Chapleau - Missinaibi Lake
  • Gogama - Foleyet

Winter storm with 15 to 25 cm of snow and blowing snow Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

Snow will begin Tuesday afternoon. Easterly winds gusting up to 60 km/h will cause reduced visibilities in blowing snow. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are possible before the snow tapers off Wednesday afternoon. Travel is likely to be affected.

This snow is associated with a Colorado Low that will cross Ontario Tuesday and Wednesday.
