Health Minister Ifereimi Waqainabete

The Meningococcal vaccination is a long term protection and the Ministry of Health has this vaccination in stock.

This was confirmed by the Health Minister Ifereimi Waqainabete while responding to a supplementary question from SODELPA MP Salote Radrodro if the Ministry has the vaccination if there is another outbreak and how will the Ministry reach out to those that have not been vaccinated.

When highlighting how the Meningococcal vaccination is carried out around the country, Waqainabete says that the Ministry’s target is to vaccinate 309,145 people.

Waqainabete says they have managed to vaccinate 281,044 people and unvaccinated were 28,101 and this brings Fiji’s percentage of vaccination to 91 percent which is one of the best in the world.

He says the Ministry will continue to provide the vaccination to all children who are eligible to get it.

The Minister also acknowledged Military Officers who have helped their officials reach out to the children in the highlands with allocated drivers.
