No deaths but swine flu scare continues as 13 more test positive

VADODARA: Even as the city received temporary relief as no fresh case of death due to swine flu was registered on Sunday, samples of as many as 13 patients tested positive for H1N1 virus in Vadodara and neighbouring districts.
Of the 13 new patients who tested positive for swine flu, eight belong to areas that fall within Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) limits. The fresh cases were reported from Akota, Karelibaug, Manjalpur, Atladara, Navidharti, Navayard and Gotri areas of the city.
A five-month-old infant from Karelibaug and a four-year-old child from Atladara were among those who tested positive for swine flu in the city. In Vadodara rural, two new positive cases were reported from Angadh village and Savli town. One patient each from neighbouring districts of Anand, Bharuch and Chhota Udepur, who tested positive for H1N1 virus, are presently undergoing treatment at hospitals in the city.
With the eight new cases, the total number of swine flu positive cases registered within the VMC limits from beginning of this year has reached 196. Of these, 129 patients have been cured, 55 patients are under treatment while 12 patients have died since January 1. With two new cases in Vadodara rural, the total number of swine flu positive cases in rural areas of Vadodara district has reached 38 of which 20 patients have been cured, 12 are undergoing treatment while six have died since January 1.
