30 children, 1 employee affected by gastroenteritis at MindChamps pre-school in Tanglin

Thirty children and one employee at the MindChamps pre-school’s Tanglin branch have been affected by an outbreak of gastroenteritis at the school.

As of noon on Tuesday (26 February), there have been 31 reported cases of those from MindChamps PreSchool @Tanglin developing symptoms of gastroenteritis, said the Ministry of Health (MOH), National Environment Agency (NEA) and Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) in a joint statement on Wednesday.

Two of those affected by the outbreak were hospitalised and have since been discharged.

All three bodies conducted a joint inspection of the school on Monday, while NEA inspected the caterer’s premises on the same day.

“As part of the investigations, a food handler was sent for stool screening, and food and environmental samples were taken for testing,” said the statement, which added that investigations into them matter are ongoing.
