(March 2): Contrary to earlier reports, a State of Local Emergency remains in effect for the Village of Rycroft, as does a Boil Water Advisory.

In a news release sent out this morning by the village, digging operations have been paused for today due to the cold temperatures, in order to protect municipal infrastructure and mitigate any further damage.

They add residents and businesses should have a trickle of water available in their taps and are encouraged to use water for NON-DRINKING PURPOSES as water pressure will allow.

If you do not have any water from your taps, please notify the Village office at 780-765-3652 in order to track water pressure.

The break has been isolated to 51 street between 46 and 48 avenues.

(March 1): A state of local emergency has been issued this morning for the Village of Rycroft after a water break Wednesday night.

The community’s water distribution system has been shut down and crews are currently working on fixing the break.

The Village says in a release that the water distribution system was shut down because of a major loss of water that couldn’t be isolated.

Periodic testing will be done on the lines which may energize them, but the Village warns the water is non-consumable and the community is under a do not consume water advisory.

Updates will be provided as they’re made available.
