Rabies Alert Issued In East Charlotte After Racoon Attacks Cat
A rabies alert notification went out in east Charlotte Friday after a rabid racoon attacked a pet cat, according to county health officials.
CHARLOTTE, NC — Mecklenburg County Health Department issued a rabies alert notification for an east Charlotte neighborhood Friday after a rabid racoon attacked a pet cat.
The alert for the Alexis Drive neighborhood in the 28227 zip code was issued after a racoon attacked a domesticated cat in the owner’s yard in the area on March 6 and later tested positive for rabies.
“The cat was current on its rabies vaccine. Unfortunately, the cat had to be humanely euthanized due to its injuries,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Animal Care and Control said Friday.
