Tesco, Lidl, Waitrose and other retailers have announced a number of recalls which affects products in their stores.

There are a number of reasons why products could be recalled; reasons for recalls this week include drinks containing metal pieces, undeclared ingredients, food products possibly containing salmonella and the risk of the presence of a toxic bacteria.

The stores have apologised for any inconvenience caused and have asked customers to return the products to your local branch for a full refund.

Below is the list of products being recalled:

Tesco

Oatly Oat Drink Whole

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: "Oatly UK Limited is recalling a specific date code of Oatly Oat Drink Whole 1L as it may contain metal pieces.

"The presence of metal makes this product unsafe to drink and presents a safety risk.

"This affected date code is only sold at Tesco."

The recall affects the 1L pack size, with a best before date of April 29 2019.

No other Oatly UK products are known to be affected.

Oatly UK is recalling Oatly Oat Drink Whole 1L because of a risk it may contain metal pieces

Oatly UK Limited said: "As a precaution, we're doing a recall of an isolated batch of Oatly chilled Oat Drink whole that might contain metal pieces from a broken machine part.

"The risk is very small, but we always put safety first and we want to make sure we eliminate any risk."

They have advised customers to return the product to store for a refund.

Lidl

Mister Choc Filled Chocolate Fingers Hazelnut Crisp

The FSA said: "Lidl is recalling Mister Choc Filled Chocolate Fingers Hazelnut Crisp because they contain barley (gluten), wheat (gluten), milk, nuts and soya which are not written in English on the label meaning it is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to barley, gluten, wheat, milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy to nuts and/or soya."

The recall affects the 200g pack sizes, with a best before date of August 13 2019.

Customers who purhcased this product can return it to a Lidl store for a full refund, no other Mister Choc product are affected.

Sondey Orange Jaffa Cakes and Sondey Jaffa Minis

The FSA said: "Lidl is recalling Sondey Orange Jaffa Cakes and Sondey Jaffa Minis, (Orange Assortment) because they contain milk which is not mentioned on the label.

"This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents."

The recall affects the 300g pack sizes of Sondey Orange Jaffa Cakes, with best before dates of:

  • January 1 2019, February 1 2019, March 1 2019, April 1 2019, May 1 2019, June 1 2019, July 1 2019 and August 1 2019.

The recall also affects the 125g pack sizes of Sondey Jaffa Minis (Orange Assortment), with best before dates of:

  • July 1 2019, August 1 2019, November 1 2019.

Lidl added: "Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Waitrose

Graze

The FSA said: "Graze is recalling Sea Salt & Vinegar Veg Crunchers because it has been incorrectly labelled as suitable for vegans, however the product contains milk.

"This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents."

The recall affects:

  • Graze Sea Salt & Vinegar Veg Crunchers
  • Pack sizes: 26g
  • Batch code: 426938, 426559, 427156
  • Best before dates: June 20, June 28 and July 2 2019

Graze said: "The health & safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to us at graze. We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused."

Condiment Company

Hunter & Gather Avocado Oil Mayonnaise

The FSA said: "The Condiment Company Ltd is recalling Hunter & Gather Avocado Oil Mayonnaise because of concerns over the company's procedures in place to control Clostridium botulinum."

Clostridium botulinum is a bacterium that is 'the most potent toxin known to man.'

The recall affects 250g packs with a sell by date of 25 September 2019.

The FSA added: "Botulinum toxin may cause a serious form of food poisoning called botulism and can be fatal.

A recall from customers if being carried out as a precautionary measure.

If you have bought any of the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."

Drumsticks Products Co

Tahini

The FSA said: "Drumsticks Products Co Ltd are recalling Tahini products because they may contain salmonella."

The recall affects:

  •  Achva Sesame Tahini

  • Pack size 500g, Lot number 18-132 with a best before of May 12 2020.

  • Achva Seasoned Tahini

  • Pack size 500g, Lot number 18-128 with a best before of May 8 2020.

  • Achva Whole Tahini

  • Pack size 500g,  Lot number 18-134 with a best before of May 8 2020.

The company said: "This recall has been initiated due to Salmonella.

"Use of this product may cause illness. Immediately examine your inventory and quarantine product subject to recall.

"In addition, if you may have further distributed this product, please identify your customers and notify them at once of this product recall. Your assistance is appreciated and necessary to prevent consumer harm."
