KARACHI: As part of Rotary International’s initiatives towards stopping polio virus transmission in Pakistan, on the occasion of Pakistan Day, a special cycling ride was arranged in collaboration with Cycologists to advocate as local and global driver to create awareness and promoting the importance of taking coordinated and concerted actions to END POLIO as a critical health issue.

The Rotary Club of Karachi is a service club dedicated to help serve communities in need by expanding its service effort to address pressing issues as environmental degradation, health, illiteracy, world hunger, and children at risk.

Since 1985, Rotary is the largest private-sector contributor to the global polio eradication campaign and has contributed more than $1.6 billion and countless volunteer hours to immunize more than 2.5 billion children worldwide. Polio cases have plummeted by more than 99.9 percent, from 350,000 cases in 1988 to 27 in 2016.

The ride started at 7:00 am with over 100 enthusiastic cyclists singing the national anthem in full enthusiasm and then paddled from Khy-e-Shaheen, DHA Phase 8 through the streets of DHA and Do Darya whilst enjoying the lovely morning breeze and the panoramic view of the DHA creek overlooking the mangroves.****
