LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Southern Nevada Health District says there have been no additional cases of Tuberculosis found at Durango High School after testing 187 people for the disease.

The tests began earlier this month following potential exposure to students. The district says someone diagnosed with an active case of TB was at the school while potentially infectious.

The Health District is scheduling more tests for people who had been in contact with the original case. Only people with active TB can spread the disease.

People who have latent TB infection are infected with the bacteria but have not developed TB disease. They do not have TB-related symptoms and can’t spread the disease to others.

Most people with latent TB infection may never develop TB disease, however, treatment for the infection is available to help prevent the bacteria from becoming active and making them sick.

More information about TB disease is available on the Health District website.
