KFD claims woman’s life

A 60-year-old woman from Aralagodu Gram Panchayat limits in Sagar taluk who was suffering from Kyasanur Forest Disease(KFD), also known as monkey fever, died in a private hospital at Manipal in Udupi district on Tuesday.

The deceased, Kannamma, was a resident of Kaalamanji village. She was suffering from high fever and ache in the joints, and was admitted to the government general hospital in Sagar on March 21. Her blood samples had tested positive for KFD.

As her condition worsened, she was shifted to a private hospital in Manipal. On Tuesday, Kannamma failed to respond to treatment and passed away.
