LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The number of deaths attributed to the flu so far this season has reached 24, according to figures released by the Southern Nevada Health District.
There have been 814 people hospitalized fro the flu, the new report states, with about 63% of those people being 50 years of age or older.
Of the 24 deaths reported so far, 17 people have been age 50 or older. Three people were between 25 and 49 years old, two were between 5 and 17 and two were 4 or younger.
The numbers collected by health officials cover flu-related cases starting with October of last year through March 30.
Clark County saw 62 flu-related deaths over the same period of the 2017-18 flu season.
The CDC announced last month it was extending the flu season in Nevada indefinitely.
