Dimapur, April 16 (EMN): A combined team of Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) and Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) along with Dr. Tiasunep, district vector borne officer, under the office of the Chief Medical Office (CMO), Mokokchung, screened a total of 219 children from the group of 0-18 years.
The screening was conducted for children from Saring, Tsurmen and Akumen villages on April 16. A press release from the DPMU, stated that a total of 219 children from schools and AWCs were screened for 4Ds – defect at birth, deficiencies, developmental delay and diseases.

It reported that out of the total children screened, one was detected with down syndrome in addition to few cases of dental carries, respiratory infections, skin condition like scabies, fungal infection and anaemia. The cases found were referred to nearby health centres.

Besides, health talks on personal hygiene and importance of immunisation were conducted during the programme.
RBSK is a new initiative aiming at early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4Ds defects at birth. The service was aimed at covering 0 to 6 years of age in rural areas and urban slums in addition to children enrolled from Classes I-XII in government and government aided schools.

The team of doctors include Dr. Limayanger, Dr. Arenkaba, Dr. Aienla and staff from different
departments.
