12 H1N1 cases in April in Kozhikode

The medicines for H1N1 fever is available in all government hospitals.

Kozhikode: As of now, a total of 43 H1N1 cases have been reported, including three deaths, from various parts of the district till Wednesday, said Dr. V Jayasree, District Medical Officer. The district health department authority has issued a warning. Twelve cases were reported in the month of April.

She said that major symptoms of the H1N1 are fever, cough, throat pain, and headache. Usually the fever subsides with proper rest for a few days, nutritious food, and hot water consumption. However, for pregnant women and people with heart, kidney and diabetic problems, and people with other serious ailments, the fever may escalate and lead to deaths.

The affected can help in curbing the spread of the fever by using handkerchief or tissue while sneezing or coughing and desisting from going to crowded places. The medicines for H1N1 fever is available in all government hospitals.
