A freezing rain warning is in effect for North Bay, Powassan, Mattawa and West Nipissing.
Freezing rain is expected to affect the region beginning near noon. It will come to an end by this evening, with patchy drizzle or freezing drizzle expected in its wake.
A freezing rain warning also is in effect for South River and Burk’s Falls.
Precipitation will begin as snow and ice pellets this morning. Amounts of 2 to 5 cm are possible before the precipitation changes to freezing rain this afternoon. Freezing rain will last for several hours before changing to rain tonight.
Further south, a rainfall warning in effect for Huntsville, Bracebridge and Gravenhurst
Rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm are expected today and tonight.
Precipitation may begin early this morning as snow or ice pellets in some regions before changing to rain this morning. Rain will be heavy at times and continue tonight.
About 100 military personnel are in the Bracebridge area assisting with flood relief. Another 60 members were expected to arrive Tuesday.
Mayor Graydon Smith said levels in the Muskoka River and Lake Muskoka have either crested or have begun to recede.
But the additional rain promises to put further strain on already heavily taxed resources.
Huntsville, Muskoka Lakes Township and Minden Hills joined Bracebridge in maintaining the states of emergency declared last week as spring runoff and heavy rains pushed water levels to historic highs.
