The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating a potential case of the measles after a child was suspected of having the illness at Detroit Metro Airport Saturday.

The airport released a statement that said, "Around 9 p.m. Saturday, an aircraft carrying passengers from Las Vegas landed at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. A young child suspected of having the measles was on board. The CDC responded. The child and family were transported to the hospital. The child is being evaluated.”

As of April 17, there were 43 measles cases in Michigan. This is the highest number of cases in the state since 1991, when 65 were reported. Nationwide, the measles outbreak has increased to 704 cases in 22 states, the CDC reported.
