Recall of Young Thai Coconut Meat for Salmonella Updated

The recall of Feeding Change brand Young Thai Coconut Meat in Canada for possible Salmonella contamination has been updated with more product information. The product was distributed in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.

The recalled product is Feeding Change Young Thai Coconut Meat, sold in 454 gram packages. The codes on the product are: Best By : JUN 01 2020 CM 152181A; Best By : JUN 13 2020 CM 164181A; Best By : JUN 14 2020 CM 165181A; and Best By : JUN 18 2020 CM 169181A. The UPC number printed on the product is 0 91037 12927 7.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall. The recall was triggered by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) test results. More products may be recalled as there investigation proceeds.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it, even if you plan to cook with it. Throw it away in a wrapped package in a secure garbage can so other people and animals can’t access it, or return it to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

Symptoms of a Salmonella infection usually begin 12 to 72 hours after ingestion of the pathogen. Symptoms include fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, stomach and abdominal pain, and diarrhea that may be bloody. Some people become so ill they must break hospitalized. Long term complications of this infection, even after a complete recovery, include reactive arthritis and high blood pressure.
