Yangon Region see over 260 dengue patients as of June 6

Yangon Region saw over 260 people who suffered from Dengue Fever this year till June 6 with Htantabin, South Dagon, Dala, Shwe Pyi Thar and Hlaingtharyar being the hardest hit townships in Yangon Region.

Among the 30 Dengue Fever patients in Htantabin Township, 2 were killed from the sickness, while South Dagon Township has 29, Dala has 15, Shwe Pyi Thar has 15 including one dead, and Hlaing Tharyar has 12 patients. In the first five months of 2020, Yangon, the largest outbreaks were reported in Mandalay, Sagaing, Magway Regions and Mon State. According to the statistic, 1480 suffered Dengue Fever and 11 died from January 1 to May 30. Half of those killed by the disease are from Yangon Region.

The cause of Dengue Fever is mostly common in big cities as they are highly populated and it is mostly contiguous for COVID-19 and Dengue Fever.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne disease that occurs in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It causes high fever, rash, and muscle and joint pain. A severe form of dengue fever is called dengue hemorrhagic fever, and it can cause severe bleeding, a sudden drop in blood pressure (shock) and death.

The fever occurs mostly in the rainy season but in some regions and states, it occurs the whole year round according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.
