Amy Hansen is an Epidemiology PhD student at SUNY Albany’s School of Public Health where she is focusing her work on the study of zoonotic diseases. Amy’s previous work experience includes conducting research on Babesia microti with the American Red Cross, working as the Project Manager for the International Society for Disease Surveillance, and working as the Zoonotic and Vectorborne Epidemiologist for the state of Maine. In 2008, she joined the HealthMap team as a Project Coordinator, and has since transitioned to working part-time. She currently curates several partner data feeds in addition to conducting research surrounding the illegal wildlife trade and its potential relationship with emerging zoonotic diseases. In her free time Amy enjoys reading, running, travelling internationally, and spending time with her husband and retired greyhound.
