Description: Publicly available tuberculosis data from 2006-2010. Rates per 100,000 calculated from average number of cases over this timespan. Population data from US Census ACS 5 year county estimates, 2006-2010.
Please be aware of the following caveats:
NR = Not reported; NA = Not applicable
Data is reported at the county level when possible, at the health district level only when county-level data was unavailable.
Avg. TB cases per 100,000, 06-10 was calculated only for states that do not report yearly TB statistics at the county level. In counties where TB statistics are yearly, this field is coded as "NA"
Data interpolation: In certain states, TB cases were reported for some counties but not all. In these instances, the TB rate for the remaining counties was interpolated. This was done by taking the total number of TB cases in the state and subtracting the TB cases for the counties where data was provided by the state. This remainder was the total number of TB cases reported in all other counties, therefore these cases were averaged over these counties. For example, Nevada reported 114 cases of TB in 2010 - 97 in Clark County, 12 in Washoe, 2 in Carson City and 3 cases in the 14 remaining counties. The three cases were averaged over the remaining 14 counties to estimate the TB burden for that year in those counties.
